Unicorn Snail

I came across an astonishingly rare snail in Paradise Garden - the Unicorn Snail. Textbooks tell me that it has extreme difficulty moving through foliage, especially when turning around, because of the extreme length of its proboscis . . . poor thing!

  4. Hmmm, a Unicorn Snail... ? Is that any relation to a Frurious Bandersnatch ? Or perhaps even a Snark ?

I LOVE your portrait of Minnie, btw, who looks like she just came face to face with the giant cat eating cemetery rat from hell who scared the living daylights out of her. I hope you gave her a big hug !

  5. Thanks, krishna.

Catherine, that sounds interesting. I do hope you can let me know the title so I can get a copy to read. Thank you.

Hi Teri, you have to keep your eyes open if you are going to spot these things!

Owen, you will be pleased to hear that Minnie's eyes are back to normal size. She is watching me write this and wondered - looking at your profile photo - whether you were feeling a bit negative?

  6. That shot is really sci -fi!... I had a great time looking at it and wondering what the hell was going on. At first I thought it was a close up of a snail's pokey out eyeball thing, then I thought that bit coming out of the top was the little snail's neck (is it??).. I'm still not fully aware of what's happening. I think I've figured out that the plant is an almost open allium?... I love it!.. everything is seventies spaceship texture... Cool!

  7. I don't know....I'd like to believe that there are such snails...Oh, heck, why not! One must believe in the far fetched wonders of nature, even if that far fetched wonder turns out to be the brilliant photograph rather than the actual snail!! Well done!!! :) Silke
