Early Green Burial or Maybe Not?


While not the clearest of photographs, probably around 1900, I cannot help noticing that this coffin is covered in foliage, front, top and rear. I feel sorry for the poor chap in front who looks to be suffering quite some discomfort through the heavy load. Perhaps the foliage draped on the coffin is a rural custom of some sort? If anyone has seen anything similar, I'd love to hear from them.

  2. Hey Laurie, your attention to detail is indeed awesome. I'm so happy that the phtographer blurred the delicate areas on the jack dog...
