A Leafy Experiment

Last Autumn (Fall), I found this leaf. It was dry so I put it in my scanner and switched it on. Not the clearest of scans, but I was pleased with the result. What unusual items have you scanned?

Some years ago, someone at work stole one of my squeaky rubber ducks that sat in a row on top of my computer monitor. They photocopied the duck, together with a ransom note. It read: "Leave a big bag of dolly mixtures in the fridge or the duck gets it!" I did, but someone else stole the dolly mixtures and ate them. Not knowing this, the disgruntled kidnapper dropped the duck back on my desk, but not before drawing a pair of spectacles on my duck in indelible ink! The rotter!

  1. hahaha! I've scanned a teddy bear's derriere before- it was a satisfying experience, though I did feel slight grubby afterward. Still, in the days of digital artwork, I'll do almost anything for a decent texture!

  3. I too once photocopied my face and then sent it to a friend... my nose was all flattened out on the glass... And as for the strange scan dept, if you go way back in my posts to last Fall, I scanned a very flat and dry frog carcass, and did a colored mosaic of the flat frog who looked like it was wearing a ballet tutu...

  6. There seems to be some sort of trend being reported here - scanning faces - but why do people do that and what do they do with the scans afterwards? Thankfully, no-one has admitted some of the more distasteful scanning that you sometimes here about in offices, particularly when photocopying after office parties!
