Communing with Gnomes

Now the sun is starting to shine, Minnie spends hours in the company of Godfrey, our elderly gnome. I have not, as yet, found out what she and Godfrey talk about, but I am sure the subject is fascinating. I know a little cat language - there are books on the subject - but I don't know what language gnomes speak. Any ideas, anyone?

  1. Oh, I love this! Mike and I hauled 3 Piskies home from Cornwall (purchased at Piskie World, near Tintagel)...one baring it's bum (for our petsitter), one drinking a pint (for my mom) and one sweet one for us holding a sign saying Cornwal...our cats don't go out in the garden, but I love the look of this photo...the lichen on the gnome just like on old headstone, and the contemplative look of the cat (I do know they like instant gratification and think one paw in front of the other so to speak...and all my cats sound different, i suppose like regional dialects even though they all reside here, lol

  2. Hi Teri,
Glad you enjoyed Minnie and Godfrey communing with nature. I laughed to hear about your piskies and was envious to hear you went to Piskie World - have always wanted to go there. That said, I did once go to Gnome World on Datmoor in Devon. I couldn't believe how naughty they all were. Godfrey is much more refined!

  3. I've driven past Gnome world! it made me laugh as I wondered whether it really was a whole world of gnomes? I believe there is also 'hedgehog land' in Devon (or is it Cornwall)Now that sounds like an interesting place. I would be interested to know how their customs/politics/etc differ from ours?!

  4. I am not sure I would like to visit Hedgehog Land - I bet it is full of prickly characters! Customs and politics? Now there's a thought. The only custom I know is for gnomes to wear the same style of headgear. It means there is no competition or engaging in one-up-manship or whatever the equivalent is in Gnome Land!

  5. Sensible. Especially as they all tend to be shortish fellows, it would be disasterous if they all started to wear a 'taller' hat, to 'one up' each other. Could cause chaos.

  7. Minnie clearly sees Godfrey as a real being. Godfrey to Minnie is very gentle, calm, good company, as Minnie's eyes are slowly closing as she relaxes.

  8. Ah, these stories remind me of my favorite childhood "Pookie" books. Whenever I see a fairy or a pixie or a bunny with wings or even gnomes sitting at a mushroom table (Gnome Reserve) I feel a little nostalgic. I know what I'll be reading tonight for a bedtime story . . .

  10. Minnie must be a particularly bright and likable cat, for Gnomes generally avoid them and Polecats and other carnivorous creatures whose instinctual habit would be to chase and nip them.
But Godfrey and Minnie seem to have struck up a rather harmonius rapport, that must certainly suit them both....
