Enigmatic Young Woman

Cousin Ione at Yewhurst 1922. That is all it says. Ione looks as if she should be reading but there is no book visible. Is she a reluctant subject? I think not. What does interest me, however, is what she seems to be clutching in her right hand. What could it be? A portal device to assist an Edwardian lady to slip into another dimension, a Derringer pistol concealed, but ready to us on an intrusive photographer or what? What do you think?

  1. I think she's holding her portable telephone, and fiddling with the ear plug for hands-free conversation... ?

  3. She is thinking about her first love who she lost in World War 1. In her right hand is the cameo keepsake he gave her on the last day she saw him before he went to war.

  4. I think she was snoozing and there was a little high pitched snork every so often.

  5. She is attempting to remove the lid from a small bottle of oil of cloves with only one hand, whilst soothing the ache in her jaw from a tooth gone bad with the other hand.....

  6. Whatever she is doing - she is a very modern thinking young lady. It's 1922 and she's wearing a wrist watch. Not a common thing until after the Second world War!
