While cataloguing images today, I found this shot of a fellow student's paintbox that I captured during a children's book illustration course in Bath. Very colourful, but I found that most of the professional graphic illustrators attending the course had similar looking paintboxes. I have always cleaned my mixing trays after use. Perhaps I was doing something wrong?
I clean mine as well. I'm a very, very messy person so I try hard at being organized and clean stuff so it won't get out of hand.
ReplyDeleteI used to not clean my painting gear, and it got so gross that in the end, I started to dislike using it.
Thanks Eva. I am glad you clean yours. I try not to be too precious about my paints, but cannot leave a mess!

Hi Laurie... This is a change of pace from the old postcards and whatnot, but especially in that it reveals another facet of you that I'm sure I hadn't picked up on if there had been previous clues... which is to say if you have paints and mixing trays to clean, then you apparently are doing some painting ??? Will we perhaps get to see some of your work at some point ?
ReplyDeleteYes, may we see some of your paintings?
ReplyDeleteI follow a lady who does a "lady blog"... cleaning tips, shopping, kids.. etc...
She also occasionally does photos and paintings... and very well I might add.
She does what I always thought was crap..or paint splatters... what a kid could do...I think they are nothing... then she published some of her "paint splatters"... I loved them, they are intriguing and beautiful.
Hi Owen. It's called hiding your light under a bushell, I think?
ReplyDelete@eloh, nice to hear from you again. Well, I am realistic about my abilities, but I will put a few bits up with explanation. When I get back to Blackpool, I will find my children's book illustration course sketchbooks because there are some quite unusual ideas in it and post a second lot.
Laurie
I don't clean mine (paintbox) because often just the shade I want is there on the palette, awaiting a dab of water ... thanks, Laurie, for following my new 'Grandma's Garden' gardening blog; I hope you will enjoy sharing my journey with me.
ReplyDeleteI don't paint, but it kind of looks like a work of art to me :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Ann. I like your new gardening blog.
ReplyDeleteTeri, I think so too!
