Lonely Bear

I wandered into a Gloucestershire church which was, unusually these days, open to visitors. I was struck by this lonely looking bear waiting for someone to give it a hug. I did!

  1. Can you give him one for me too? Bears without hugs are like bees without honey...

I wonder what he was doing there though ? I haven't met many religious bears before... I thought they worshipped in the woods usually, and prayed to simpler deities than us humans...

  2. Many, (too many) years ago we had a wonderful priest...there were some simple toys kept here and there where families with children usually sat, to keep the children happy during church.

If it had to "stay" in the pew, the children didn't seem to tire of the toy during their weekly visit.

  3. I suspect she could tell many stories if she wanted to!

  4. Oh, I am just taken by the photo. It speaks to me and I would love to do a drawing of it. If it is OK, would you let me know please.

  6. Hi everyone. A truly wonderful bear, indeed! As Joanna said, she must have some nice stories to tell.

Maria, of course you may draw her.

Next time I stay overnight in the hotel nearby, I'll call in to see her again.

  9. Lovely photo. Teddy bears hold a special place in my heart. When I was a little girl, I never played with dolls. My attention was always given to my rather large collection of bears. All types and sizes. I would enjoy make believe tea parties with them, and carried them every where. I shutter when I see an unattended little bear soul.
