War Horse

Reading about the premiere of the heart-rending film, War Horse, I remembered reporting on a pilgrimage to the battlefields of the First World War. During an afternoon visit to the Cloth Hall in Ypres, I was shocked by one of the realistic exhibits. It featured a war horse and moves me still!

  1. That is heartbreaking.

I can actually say I HATED WAR HORSE! Really hated it. I won't go into depth about my reasons, but it was typical Spielberg emotional manipulation. I like Spielberg films, but he does like to push emotional buttons and often in a manner lacking much depth. He likes to set the audience to be on an emotional roller coaster. I just found the film far too depressing and empty. It was brutal which you'd expect, but I didn't find it entertaining at all. I've known of others who have walked out.

  2. I am making a point of NOT seeing this picture. I never watch movies about animals, because they always end up suffering, and I become an emotional wreck for days. In fact I hated even seeing this picture.
