New Arrival!
It had to happen, but this is our new arrival. We were planning to stick to just fostering kittens, but this little chap came along and coerced us into adopting him. His name is Eric and he is fourteen weeks young. I almost detect a spot of oriental in him, especially in the second photograph. What do you think?

A Woman, a Sheep and a Cat!
I think this mystery lady is probably a real life Doctor Dolittle. Here she is engaged in a three-way conversation with a very fine sheep and an inquisitive cat. Of her day, I think she was probably known by the locals as a bit of an eccentric, to say the least! Wonderful! Click twice on the image for a closer look. For more on sheep, click HERE

Super Hearing!
You may remember Minnie who appeared in some of this blog's earlier post. She who has 'Communed with Gnomes' has certain super-powers. The ability to hear distant conversations is one of them and Minnie , here, demonstrates how she achieves it!

Optical Illusion
When I discovered this photograph, I couldn't work it out. First, I thought my cat Tangwyn was climbing some snow-covered steps. Then I thought she must be descending the steps. I am still not sure - what do you reckon?

Graveyard Cat
This fine young tabby cat was enjoying his nap in the sun at Frome Dissenters' Cemetery until I came along. As he was deciding whether to stay or flee (no, I am not that frightening!), I took one quick shot before moving away to look at another part of the cemetery. Sometimes I see several different cats resting and hunting - it must be a nightmare for the poor mice that traverse the paths between the rows of headstones! Once I met a friendly black cat here - the sort often pictured in the company of a Witch. I wonder why they get such bad press, especially when a black cat crossing your path is considered 'good luck'? What do others think of graveyard cats?

Communing with Gnomes
Now the sun is starting to shine, Minnie spends hours in the company of Godfrey, our elderly gnome. I have not, as yet, found out what she and Godfrey talk about, but I am sure the subject is fascinating. I know a little cat language - there are books on the subject - but I don't know what language gnomes speak. Any ideas, anyone?

Cat in Hiding
Sometimes a cat likes to sleep. Sometimes a cat likes to hide. Here, Sylvie is maintaining a very low profile and hoping that I don't notice her - I nearly didn't.

Sooty Who Walks With Trees

This is Sooty. She has no teeth because of neglect by her previous owner. She can be quite mysterious. Until she became frail, she would walk to the nearby copse where the trees watch humans as they walk by [see my February posts]. Curiously, she would walk from tree to tree and lean against each in turn. There seemed to be some sort of connection or communication between her and the trees. Similarly, during the annual holiday to St David's in Pembrokeshire, she would walk each evening through the graveyard of the city's Cathedral. Sooty visited each grave in turn and would disappear behind the headstones for a few seconds before reappearing. She referred to them as "Sleepy People". Again, there seems to be some sort of connection with the graves, as there was with the trees. I wonder whether other dogs or, indeed, cats behave in a similar way?

Just Good Friends
I saw a statue of a dog sat next to another of a cat at the end of a garden that I was sketching. When the other visitors moved on, I saw a movement and realised that the dog was giving a reassuring nudge to the cat. They looked firm friends.
